Richard has a degree in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge and a PhD in semiconductor physics from Imperial College London. After several years working in information technology, he returned to Cambridge to complete a MPhil in Technology Policy at the Judge Business School, before joining Mathys & Squire in 2006.
Richard holds a Certificate in Intellectual Property Law from London University and is part-way through qualifying as a Chartered and European Patent Attorney. He works for a wide range of clients in information technology and engineering, from individual inventors and start-ups to universities and multinational corporations - most recently for a number of high-profile digital media and online interests.
